• Wood canvas (I bought this in the craft area at the dollar store, just flip it upside down to make a tray)
• Black & white paint
• Tape
• Mod Podge
• Paintbrushes
• Spooky lettering (stickers, handwritten or use your Cricut machine)

Paint and Decorate a Halloween Wood Tray

Start by flipping your wood canvas over and painting the inside with white paint.

Once dry, add some painters tape on the inside and paint the outside black. You can skip the tape if you have any sort of precision with painting, but I don’t.

Remove the tape and wait for your tray to dry.

You can use your tray now but I decided to make some fun Halloween lettering to add to the middle. I used my Cricut machine to cut the word BOO.

Add a layer of matte Mod Podge all over the Halloween wood tray and wait for it to completely dry.

Once it’s dry all you have to do is decorate your Halloween wood tray with your spooky decorations!

• Paint in any color (I used Tan and Suede)
• Paint brushes
• Baking soda

DIY Clay Painted Vases

I started by mixing 1/4 cup of paint and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. This paint trick for clay painted vases is great because you don’t really have to measure. I ended up adding more baking soda because I wanted to look more textured. You want the paint to spread and not be too thick.

Clean off the surface of your piece, I used a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol. I chose glass vases from the dollar store but this paint trick works on thrifted, textured vases or jars.

Apply the paint in sweeping strokes on the outside and inside of the vase. I wanted to use the inside for flowers so I decided to paint just the outside. The paint dries quickly and I ended up doing a couple layers because I wanted more coverage, especially since the inside wasn’t being painted.

You can paint in vertical or horizontal lines. I liked the look of it vertically but horizontal lines look more like real clay. It’s not really a big deal if you make mistakes or if the lines doesn’t look even because real ceramics aren’t perfect.

Let your clay painted vases dry!

These turned out so pretty and they were so easy! With a total cost of about $5 for materials you can do this with multiple colors, jars and vases.

Leave the vases empty but you can also add flowers, branches or greenery.

Modern Accent Wall Inspiration

Anyone else love a good before and after picture? When my sister in law showed me her new living room I was in love! And luckily for us, she was willing to share. This accent wall gave the room a big refresh and it feels like a brand new space. Scroll through to see the transformation!

The major focal point in this room is definitely the board and batten wall. The accent wall was painted blue, using Benjamin Moore paint, in the color Slate Tile.

This feature wall adds texture and depth to the living room, paint or wallpaper just don’t have the same effect. It’s an affordable project you can do yourself, my brother in law cut every piece of wood himself! I think the new wall really transforms the space. I hope this has inspired you to tackle a new project for your home.

These painted terracotta pots are fun because you can make them any color and design you want. Of course I wanted to go black and white (my favorite) but I think these would be fun to make for a special holiday like Easter or Christmas.

• Any size terracotta pots
• Acrylic paint (any color)
• Paint brushes
• Painters tape

I am using artificial plants in my terracotta pots but if you’re looking to put real plants inside I would apply a seal on top of the paint so it’s doesn’t chip.

How to Paint Terracotta Pots

Make sure your terracotta pots are clean and dry. I started by taping a part of my pot with painters tape, I wanted a geometric look.

Paint your terracotta pots. I only needed to do one coat but if you want to use more make sure the paint is dry between coats.

Once the paint is dry, add designs with more paint using a fine tip paintbrush or you can use a sharpie marker.

Super easy right? I think these adorable painted terracotta pots make great gifts for friends, family and teachers.

I got my inspiration from this Anthropologie pointilism wall art. It’s a modern canvas art piece that costs $700. It has such a simple and modern design but you know I wasn’t going to spend that much money on my home decor. I wanted to see if I could make something similar, that was on a budget.

You’ll Need:

• Picture Frame
• Paper or canvas
• Black Paint
• Flat paintbrush

Easy Abstract Wall Art

This entire thing cost me $4 to make. I bought the picture frame from the dollar store, opened it up and just flipped over the paper that was inside. You can use canvas or card stock but I kept this so simple and just used the back side of the paper that was already inside the picture frame.

I went back and forth between green or black but I always end up choosing black (my favorite color). But this is such an easy art DIY that you can remake it for any season and with any color.

Remove the backing from the picture frame, remove any extra paper and flip the paper it came with over.

Pick the size of your paint brush depending how big you want your brush strokes to be. Dip one side of the paint brush with paint and make a stroke from top to bottom. 

Continue on with the strokes until your page is fully covered. You can make them as large or small as you want, you can put them close together or far apart.

I really like how they were turning out! I added more paint to my brush and went back over the spots, this time starting from the bottom and sweeping the brush up. 

Wait for your paint to dry and put it back in the picture frame.

I leaned my abstract wall art up against the wall and it was complete. I can’t believe I waited so long to put art in my frame. This abstract wall art was so easy and budget friendly. Plus your brush strokes don’t have to be perfect and you can make any shape you want.
