• Air clay
• Paint and paintbrushes
• Jute rope
• Wood beads
• Scissors
• Sculpting tools or butter knife
• Rolling pin

Heart Ornaments made with Air Clay

To start, place your air clay on parchment paper or craft paper to protect any surfaces. Roll out the clay to your desired thickness with a rolling pin.

Use a sculpting tool or butter knife to cut out a heart shape. You can use a piece of cardboard already cut into a heart shape as a template. Make them as small or large as you want!

You can leave your hearts smooth or add some textured designs. Use stamps, your fingers, a pen or play dough tools make lines, hearts, or write names.

Use scissors to pierce a hole near the top of the heart. This is where you will put your rope through. Let the clay hearts dry for at least 24 hours. Once dry, paint your hearts in your favorite colors.

Once the paint is dry, cut a piece of jute rope and insert it into the heart. Add a wood bead and tie a knot. Next add as many beads as you like and tie the rope again to form a loop.

Hang your heart ornaments and enjoy! The kids will love making their own heart decorations and you can make your own garland, gift tag or non-candy Valentine’s day presents for family and friends.

Pipe Cleaner Bracelets With Beads

This is a perfect craft for younger kids to practice their fine motor skills. They use their pincer grasp, the tips of their index finger and thumb, to hold the beads and string them onto the pipe cleaner. You want the bead holes to be big enough to fit through the stem easily. Pipe cleaners are great because unlike string, the beads won’t slip off if you let go of the bracelet.

With so many varieties of beads you can get creative. Use big beads, small beads or letter beads. Make colored patterns or make it random. You can even personalize it with your name!

Once you’ve strung on enough beads bend and fold over the ends of the pipe cleaner to secure and form a bracelet.
