I love getting Christmas cards every year and i just don’t have the heart to throw them away. I don’t take the credit for this idea but i love it! I keep a few cards but I use the rest to make gift tags.

Upcycled Christmas Card Gift Tags

Start by cutting out any images, words or memorable parts of the cards. These will be your gift tags.

Make sure the backs are blank and write your message, greeting or name.

Use a hole bunch to add a hole and attach it to your presents using twine, ribbon or tape.

So simple! I just love that these cards were given to us by family, friends and neighbors and we get to repurpose them and add them to our Christmas gifts.

For someone that doesn’t like Halloween I sure do make a lot of Halloween crafts! The kids and I made these ghost lollipops and I made this spooky Halloween tray to hold all of my spooky decor. I thought these Halloween lanterns would be the perfect addition to our decor.

• Mason Jars-any size
• Mod Podge- matte
• Paintbrush
• Orange Fabric– I got a table runner from the dollar store
• Flameless Candles
• Scissors

DIY Halloween Lanterns

To start, clean and wash your mason jars, you won’t need the lids. Measure how much fabric you need to cover your jar and cut to size.

Start gluing the fabric around the jar using Mod Podge. Use as much glue as you need because the glue dries with a slight matte haze, which adds the perfect touch to the Halloween lanterns.

Once your jars are wrapped, add more glue where you need and set aside to dry.

Cut off any excess fabric once the jars have completely dried. I purposefully left mine to stick up from the top because I liked how the shape resembles a spider web.

Next, add flame-less candles and your Halloween lanterns are finished! You can set them on your porch, garden or inside to decorate.

They’re not too spooky, I actually think they’re kind of pretty. The orange fabric glows with the flame and a slight silhouette of a spider web pokes through.

DIY Jewelry Boxes

My daughter has a beautiful wooden box for her jewelry. She likes to fill it up with her necklaces, rings and bracelets and then carry it around with her. It was a gift, plus it was expensive so I wanted to come up with a way for her to carry her jewelry box around with her that wouldn’t break if it was dropped.

I think a lot of people get these chocolate boxes over the holidays. Instead of recycling them I used them to make jewelry boxes. And if the plastic container broke it wasn’t sentimental and could always be remade.

First I started painting the lid white but she wanted me to use pink and purple instead. I ended up finishing the lids with white paint and painting the bottoms pink and purple.

The plastic containers took about 3 coats of paint so make sure you let each layer dry before painting again.

Once dry, I used my stamps to write “Pearls go with everything” on top of the lid.

Since the jewelry boxes are going to be handled a lot I added a coat of mod podge to seal the paint.

I think these jewelry boxes turned out so fun and colorful.
