Ikea Hemnes Shoe Cabinet for Winter Gear

If you have a ton of shoes, the Ikea Hemnes shoe cabinet is the perfect solution because it holds about 14 pairs of shoes! But in my household we have way more winter gear than we have shoes! Our house has a small entryway and coat closet. Besides some coats and a few shoes there isn’t much space for other items.

Our living room is directly next to the entryway, sharing a wall. This space was sitting pretty empty with a couple chairs and a clock. So we decided to utilize the space and make it a more useful space for our winter stuff.

A family of 4 has a lot of winter clothing! And anyone with kids knows that mornings are chaotic when you’re searching for that missing glove or hat! We really needed a designated spot to hold out gear. We started by measuring the wall next to the entryway and realized that 2 of the Hemnes shoes cabinets would fit perfectly beside each other! 

After building the cabinets we gave each family member their own section for their winter clothing. This was such a good idea for us, especially because it gives the kids their own place to keep their things. It keeps them organized and responsible for their own accessories.

The drawer at the top of the cabinet is perfect for storing items you use everyday, like your keys or wallet. Also, it’s great for storing items used occasionally like flashlights, candles or reusable bags.
