Nice Flower Housewarming Gift Idea

I love bringing a bottle of wine, a homemade treat, or a handcrafted item, it’s always the thought that matters! But if you’re strapped for time or idea this gift idea can’t get any easier!

To start, wash your jar and let dry. Remove the price tags from the faux flowers. I used three bunches for this gift but if you only have one or two flower bunches you can always separate the stems to give it a more fluffed out look.

Wrap some twine around the neck of the jar for a rustic look.

Attach a gift tag and you’re done.

Simple right?

Its always a great idea to bring a little something to new parents when visiting them and their new baby for the first time. Something like meals, gift cards or gift baskets are always a welcome gift. My best friend gave birth and I knew I wanted to bring her and her husband a sweet treat (you already know I brought a ton of baby stuff!)

DIY Dollar Store Gift Basket idea for New Parents

Start by making a list of the things you’ll need for your gift basket. Favorite candy or snacks are a must. Individual snacks are a great idea too because they can be tucked away around the house or put in a diaper bag.

My best friend is a huge coffee lover so I had to get her a couple of coffee mugs (and I personalized them using my Cricut machine, for that extra special touch. You can just as easily buy stickers from the craft area to make your own). I added a couple of cold coffees, because you know having a newborn means your coffee get cold right away anyways!

Don’t forget to add some healthy treats, with extra protein, like mixed nuts and beef Jerky. I added some of her favorite chocolate bars and a few self care items too, like lip balm and hair ties. You could also add face masks, a heating pad, spray bottle or lotion.

I also found this blue basket at the dollar store and it’s a great because they have multiple color choices. I filled it with tissue paper and started arranging the treats until everything fit.

And there you have it! A simple dollar store gift basket idea for new parents. The gift is affordable, easy to put together and you can buy everything in one place. Plus it’s more personal because you’re putting together their favorite snacks and treats. Enjoy the baby cuddles!

Materials Needed

I bought this wood circle from the dollar tree. I knew it would make the perfect decorative sign with it’s pre-drilled holes and twine for hanging. And with my friends birthday fast approaching I knew I could turn it into a decorative sign that would make a great gift idea. You’ll need these materials to make your sign:

• Wood circle sign (I got mine from dollar tree)
• Wood stain
• Mod Podge
• Paint
• Paint brushes
• Painters tape
• Cricut machine
• Dog paw SVG (Get yours free from Creative Fabrica!)
• Transfer tape and scraper

DIY Wood Sign

First I removed the string it came with so that it would be easier to paint.

Next add painters tape to section off the top of the wood circle. If you don’t make a huge mess you’ll be fine with one strip but I had to cover the entire half (and good thing I did!)

You can paint the bottom section with brown or black paint but I used a wood stain.

Wait for the wood stain to dry and add tape to cover up the stained half. Some of the wood stain did bleed through but luckily the white paint easily covered that up! Paint the top half of your wood circle with white paint. Once dry, add a sealer or matte finish Mod Podge to the entire wood circle. Vinyl doesn’t tend to stick to wood stain.

Once dry, measure your wood circle and cut the words “Dogs Welcomed. People Tolerated” using your Cricut machine. A little confession, I really should have written “dogs welcome” but it’s a little too late now! Ha! The words will fit into the middle of the circle. You can use any lettering or font that you want but I made the top cursive and bottom words more bold.

Next upload your paw print SVG into Cricut Design Space. that. Change the sizing, I chose 1 inch by 1 inch.

Set up your vinyl and cut your words and paw print using your Cricut machine. Weed the excess vinyl and place transfer tape over the lettering. Peel away the backing.

Position the transfer tape in the middle of the wood circle and carefully peel it away leaving the letters on the circle. Do this with the rest of the words and the paw print.

Re-attach the twine so that you can hang your sign.

How cute did this turn out? Who wouldn’t love to hang this in their entryway, office or leaned on a shelf?

I found these cute whale dishes at the dollar store and I thought they would make the perfect gift for a friend and her daughter, they’re just the right size for trinkets or jewelry. I wanted to add a little extra touch by personalizing the trinket dishes using my Cricut machine. So far I’ve only made these personalized wedding gift mugs using my Cricut but the gift ideas are endless!

• Small blank dishes (I got mine from Dollar Tree)
• Cricut machine
• Cricut cutting mat
• Premium vinyl, Brights sampler in permanent glossy
• Transfer tape
• Measuring tape
• Weeding tool and scraper

Personalized Trinket Dishes using the Cricut Maker

Start by measuring your trinket dishes.

Next, open Cricut Design Space app and start a new project. Insert the font option and choose your font. Enter your names and adjust the size to fit your trinket dishes.

Next go to “Make it” and select with mat option (If you’re using Smart vinyl you will not need to use a mat). Then select your material. I used permanent glossy from the Brights sampler.

Connect to your Cricut machine and load your Cricut mat when prompted.

Once the names are cut, unload the machine and cut out the vinyl. Weed the excess vinyl around the cut letters.

Cut a piece of transfer tape and place it over the names. Peel away from the backing.

Next position the transfer tape with a name over a trinket dish, pressing down and carefully peeling the transfer tape so that the name is left on the dish.

Add the name to the second trinket dish.

These personalized trinket dishes are so simple to make and they make the sweetest mother-daughter gift!

They’re the perfect size for trinkets, jewelry or just use them as part of your home decor.
