Fall has some of the best scents, cinnamon, apple cider, pumpkin spice and so many more! I love the smell of fresh baked goodies in the entire house but this little trick gets your house smelling like fall without any of the baking!

I don’t use measurements. I just put as much as my heart desires and since I love the smell of cinnamon I use a lot of that!! Plus, you can use as much or as little ingredients as you want, sometimes I don’t have cinnamon sticks so i just use cinnamon powder.

You’ll need:

• Water
• Cinnamon sticks
• Cinnamon powder
• Vanilla extract
• Dried mint (can use a tea bag instead)
• Orange

Fall Simmering Pot Recipe

Start by filling a pot with water about halfway. 

Next cut an orange into slices and add it into the water. Squeeze some juice from the orange into the water.

Add your cinnamon sticks, you can use as many as you like! I used 4 here.

Add a splash of vanilla extract

Now just add your dried mint and 1 tablespoons of cinnamon powder. The powder is optional!

Place your pot on your stove top on medium heat until it boils, then you simple turn it down to low heat and let everything simmer.

It takes no time before the whole house smells amazing! Continue to add water as needed.

This is how I’ve always made my fall summering pot but there are so many alternatives! You can also add lemon, lime, apples, pears, cloves, nutmeg, pumpkin spice, anise. The fall scents are endless.

Fall Simmering Pot – All Natural Potpourri

This fall simmering spices recipe uses all natural ingredients and spices to fill your home with the most wholesome and comforting fall smells.

Ingredients

• Water

These little pumpkins are super budget friendly and you most likely already have all the materials at home! And if you don’t, the dollar store has fabric and foam pumpkins. You’ll need:

• Sweater
• Foam pumpkins (we got ours from the dollar store)
• Scissors
• Hot Glue
• Sticks or driftwood

How to Make No-Sew Sweater Pumpkins

Start by removing any stems or decorations that are on top of the foam pumpkins. You can also get carve-able pumpkins at the dollar store.

Cut a small hole at the top, make sure it doesn’t go down too deep as you will need some of the foam to hold your sweater into place. Put aside.

Next, cut your sweater apart by the seams.

Lay your pumpkin over top of the sweater and if you need to, cut any excess fabric. Start wrapping the sweater around the pumpkin.

Push the fabric down into the cut hole at the top. I thought that I would need hot glue for this part but the foam held the sweater in place!

At the end, I used my scissors to push down the sweater into the top. I gently pushed down as much fabric as I could. It helps tighten the sweater around the foam pumpkin and looked so good!

Next, hot glue a small stick or piece of driftwood to the top to make it look like a pumpkin stem.

Repeat for as many no-sew sweater pumpkins as you want to make!

• Wood sign (we got ours from the dollar store)
• Marble contact paper
• Brown paint
• Paintbrushes
• Scissors

DIY Thankful Wood Sign

This is how the wood sign looked when I got it. I’m going to transform it using some paint and contact paper.

First gently pop off the little thankful lettering. This breaks easily so be careful. You can always use stickers or make your own letters from a Cricut machine.

Carefully remove the backing.

I painted the letters with brown paint to match the edge of the sign. 

Use any contact paper you have to wrap around the backing. I love the marble look but you can buy different styles at the dollar store. You can use paint instead but you may have to do a few coats.

Reattach the backing to the frame.

Glue the thankful letters back on to the sign. I chose not to attach it so I could change it up. I plan to use it as part of a fall centerpiece for our table.

All you have to do is find a place to display it. This one came with hooks so you can add it to a wall, shelf or mantle. I love how this DIY thankful wood sign turned out! Its minimal and you can also use it as a wooden tray when you’re done displaying it.
