This is an easy craft for kids to make with only a little bit of help. And it doesn’t have to cost much because you can use items you probably already have at home. Just make sure you’re not cutting up Dad’s favorite plaid shirt!

• Plaid shirt with a pocket (Use one of Dad’s old ones!)
• Picture frame
• Cardboard
• Scissors 
• Tape (or hot glue gun)

DIY Father’s Day Gift Pocket Organizer

Start by removing the backing of the picture frame and the glass. Cut a piece of cardboard so that it fits inside. Cut the cardboard just a bit smaller because it will bulk up once you add the plaid shirt around it.

Place your plaid shirt down (pocket side facing down) on a table. Use the cardboard to see where you will need to cut. Cut a large section of the shirt around the pocket. Make sure there is enough fabric to fold over the cardboard.

I noticed that the cardboard was showing through the plaid shirt so I painted the cardboard white. You may not need to do this if your fabric is thicker.

Next position the pocket to fit in the middle of the cardboard cut out. Fold over the fabric and hot glue it to the cardboard. You can use tape instead of hot glue, especially if kids are helping.

Place the pocket into the picture frame and put the backing on.

Now you’ll just have to add pens or pencils, wrap up your gift, and your DIY plaid shirt pocket organizer will be ready for Father’s day!
