• Thrifted Basket
• Acrylic paint (in color of your choice)
• Paintbrush
• Painters tape

Thrift Store Basket Makeover

Start by hunting down the perfect wicker basket. Thrift stores have such a good collection to choose from. Make sure the basket is sturdy and has a flat bottom so it can function well as a tray. I chose a basket that wasn’t too deep and has handles.

Wipe down the basket with a damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt. I actually soaked my basket in water with some bleach. Let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Decide how much of the basket you want to paint. I chose only the bottom half so I taped off the top half of the basket. The original plan was to paint the handles and outside, but the paint had soaked through so I had to paint the inside too. I actually really liked how that turned out! You may need a few coats of paint.

Remove the painters tape, let your basket dry and then fill it with your favorite decor pieces! It’s a simple thrift store basket makeover

Styling Your Tray

Now that you have a gorgeous wicker tray, it’s time to style it! Here are a few ideas:

• Coffee Table Centerpiece: Place your tray on a coffee table (this is what I do!) and fill it with wood beads, candles, books, flowers or seasonal decor.
• Kitchen Helper: Use the tray to organize spices, oils, and utensils on your kitchen counter. If you choose to use your basket this way I think adding a coat of sealant over the paint would be a good idea.
• Vanity Organizer: Keep your beauty essentials neatly arranged on your vanity. You can use it for holding perfumes, makeup, and jewelry.
