DIY Button Monogram Letter
Grab buttons in different sizes. You can upcycle old buttons or buy thrifted or dollar store ones. I didn’t count to see how many buttons I started with but that will look different for you depending on what letter you choose to do and how big your canvas is. I used about 50 buttons for this project. Start by lightly drawing your letter onto the canvas. We are making the letter “S.”
Put a thin layer of glue over the drawn on letter. Use a tacky glue that dries clear. You can also sew the buttons onto the canvas but I’m not a fan of sewing (aka I have no idea what I’m doing) so I used glue.
Choose larger buttons to glue over the layer of glue. You will need to add glue to each button as well since the line of glue is not thick enough.
Once your letter is formed start gluing smaller buttons around the larger ones.
Next, start overlapping more buttons by gluing on top of the larger ones. I tried putting them where it looked like there were gaps.
Wait for the glue to dry.
Display your monogrammed letter as home or party decor. Lean it on a shelf, affix it to a wall or give it as a personalized gift.
This is a fun project that older kids (that are out of the button eating stage) enjoy. And best of all you can make multiple letters in different colors!
