The average cost of a wedding centerpiece is anywhere from $30-$100 per table. No wonder there are so many DIY searches and wedding how-to’s out there. Here are a few ways to save money on your wedding centerpieces.
1. Ditch The Flowers.
Ditching the flowers is hard, but if you’re on a small budget this is one of the first things to go. Floral arrangements are always beautiful but they are pricey. We had 21 tables at our wedding, plus the head table, entrance table and dessert table. Even on the low end of $30 a table that would have cost over $700!! And we’re talking just for centerpieces, we haven’t even started adding up the rest of the decor. If you’re insistent on having flowers as a wedding centerpiece make sure they’re in season or try using fake flowers.
2. Pick A Unique Piece
Pick a unique piece that is meaningful to you. We chose lanterns for our wedding. But there is a wide arrange of ideas to choose from. Candles, books, feathers, bottles, wood, paper flowers, pictures.
3. Shop Sales.
Unless you’re in a rush you can keep your eye out for sales and discount days. We bought our lanterns for less than $10 a piece and we bought them during a tax free event. Keep your eye out for end of season decor and buy it now to save for later.
4. Avoid Centerpieces That Need A Lot Of Attention.
Someone has to come set up those flowers if they’re fresh. I’ve even seen a few gold fish centerpieces but that is always a bad idea (usually because the they die and you just feel bad for those poor fish)
